Pre-School Program

Introducing the Preschool Program (3-6 Years)
Play, Inquiry & Discovery

Our Pre-School Program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, fostering collaborative, inquiry-based learningwhere children explore their interests through project-based investigations. The curriculum is aligned with EYLF learning outcomes, promoting critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving in a nurturing environment.

  • Emergent literacy & numeracy: Exposure to books, storytelling, writing materials, and mathematical concepts through play-based activities.
  • STEAM-based learning: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) integrated through hands-on experiments and discovery.
  • Emotional intelligence & social skills: Role-playing, group discussions, and emotional regulation techniques help develop self-awareness and resilience.
  • Creative expression: Art, music, drama, and movement encourage self-expression and confidence.

Children are given agency over their learning, with educators acting as co-learners, guiding inquiry and fostering a love for exploration.

Education is important, especially from three to six years of age, because this is the embryonic period for the formation of character and of society

Preschool Learning Goals

Early Literacy and Communication

Children develop foundational literacy skills through storytelling, phonetic awareness, and early writing activities. They learn to recognize and write their name, construct simple sentences, and engage in meaningful conversations, fostering confidence in language and communication. (EYLF Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators.)

Mathematical Thinking and Problem-Solving

Through hands-on experiences with numbers, patterns, and spatial reasoning, children build a strong mathematical foundation. They recognize numerals, begin simple addition and subtraction, and explore early mathematical concepts in real-world contexts. (EYLF Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners.)At Roly-Poly Childcare Center, we emphasize the importance of holistic development, ensuring children are not only prepared academically but also socially and emotionally. Our programs are designed to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, fostering a love for learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. We focus on hands-on activities that encourage exploration, while our highly trained staff provides guidance and support tailored to each child’s unique needs. From interactive play to early educational lessons, every aspect of Roly Poly is designed to create a joyful, safe, and stimulating environment where children can thrive.

Creative and Expressive Exploration

Children engage in visual arts, music, movement, and imaginative play, allowing them to express ideas and emotions in a variety of creative ways. These experiences foster innovation, self-expression, and confidence. (EYLF Outcome 5: Children engage with a range of texts and media.)

Social and Emotional Growth

As children become more independent, they learn to manage emotions, build friendships, and navigate social interactions. They develop confidence in group settings, participate in discussions, and understand the value of cooperation, respect, and empathy. (EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity.)

Physical Wellbeing and Coordination

Through structured and unstructured physical activities, children refine their fine and gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. They engage in movement games, follow rules, and develop body awareness, contributing to overall health and wellbeing. (EYLF Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.)

Focus and Independence in Learning

As they prepare for school, children develop the ability to concentrate for extended periods, complete tasks independently, and take ownership of their learning. They are encouraged to think critically, explore ideas, and work through challenges with resilience and perseverance. (EYLF Outcome 4: Children develop learning dispositions such as curiosity and persistence.)

From the age of three til six, being able to now to tackle their environment deliberately and consciously, the young mind begins a period of real constructiveness.
